About the Class

Yoga is a holistic, mindfulness practice of integration.  Combining physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation, yoga offers anyone a way to feel better by working on multiple systems of the body & mind at once.  A Harvard Medical School article states, "yoga may be the antidote for what ails you. According to research, up to 90% of all doctor visits can be attributed to stress-related complaints. In our always-plugged-in, stressed-out lives, yoga provides the respite to make you feel better—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too. It is arguably the one tool that we have that simultaneously improves strength, balance, and flexibility, while helping to dial back negative self-talk and ruminations as well as the emotional stress of everyday living. Among other things, yoga can reduce your risk of heart disease and boost your immunity, while easing your back pain and helping to conquer stress eating."

In this 8 week Introduction, you will learn basic yoga postures, meditation techniques, and breathing exercises that allow you to benefit from a viable routine for self-care. Whether you have physical limitations or not, this course is for you. Using adaptive, everyday tools like chairs or the wall, anyone can begin to be in their body in a new and healthy way.

This workshop runs weekly on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm starting on February 3 (no class February 17) and runs through March 31, 2026.
